Cooley Holds Slight Lead Against Harris As Votes Trickle In

cooleyLos Angeles District Attorney Steve Cooley is still slightly ahead of San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris, his challenger for State Attorney General.

The latest numbers from the Secretary of State show Cooley with 3,975,095 votes or 45.9 percent and Harris with 3,955,738 votes or 45.7 percent.

More than a million votes are yet to be counted across the state; there are 1,074,153 provisional, vote by mail and other ballots remaining to be tallied. In Los Angeles County, there are 208,513 uncounted ballots. The last update filed by LA County was at 11:18 a.m. November 10.

While Cooley is slightly ahead in the statewide race, numbers from the LA County Registrar-Recorders office shows the balance tipped the other way with county voters, who chose Harris by a significant margin (1,076,603 votes or 53.08 percent of the vote) to Cooley’s 805,577 votes (39.72 percent).

Counties have until November 30 to complete their ballot tabulations and turn final figures in to the Secretary of State’s office.
