Forensic Anthropologists to try and piece together the victim, the cause of death
[view:node_ad=5]A team from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office was in Canyon Country Monday morning investigating human remains that have been found.
According to Lt. Fred Corral, the remains were first reported on Thanksgiving night, and the following day, Coroner’s investigators traveled to the scene, located off of Whites Canyon Road near Steinway Street.
At this time, investigators are unable to determine the age, sex or identity of the remains. However, more pieces of the remains were found Monday, and Forensic Anthropologists will be working on that now.
The remains are burned, because the Buckweed fire charred the area where they were found. However, it is not believed that the fire was the cause of death, as the remains may have been in the area for quite some time.
After some identifying information has been discovered about the person whose remains were found, LA County Sheriff’s Detectives will start researching missing person reports.
