The Council came to the decision that the cost for solid waste management services for resident and commercial properties would increase over the next several years.

The increase is due in part to the fact that both haulers under USA Waste of California Inc., Waste Management for residents and Burrtec for businesses, demonstrated an annual loss while providing services to residents and businesses in the City.
In the agreement with the City, Waste Management is entitled to pursue an annual adjustment to its maximum rates for the year.
“Residential rates are still the lowest in the region,” said Gail Ortiz, Santa Clarita Communications Manager.
Residential rates will increase by 2.64% beginning in July.
