County Gets Grant To Combat Gangs

Monies to be used in collaboration of County, LA City
agencies.

[view:node_ad=5]The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously
accepted over $380,000 in federal grant funding for the CLEAR anti-gang program
– a collaborative effort between with the Los Angeles County Sheriff, District
Attorney, and Probation Departments and the Los Angeles Police Department and
City Attorney’s Office in partnership with the community, schools and gang
intervention organizations, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

 

By developing and implementing gang enforcement strategies
including intelligence-gathering, visible patrol, arrests and the investigation
and prosecution CLEAR (Community Law Enforcement and Recovery) has resulted in
a marked increase in gang arrests, cleared cases, convictions, school
attendance, youth program participation, and an overall reduction in gang
activity.
