Encouraging young people to continue studying and improve reading skills during the summer months, the Los Angeles County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program offers a guided course of reading on age-appropriate topics and free scheduled activities such as films, story times, crafts, and speakers for children,” announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.
The Library provides materials for children to keep track of the books they read during the summer in a non-competitive atmosphere where they can share their reading discoveries with others. Experts are available to help children select materials that will be of interest. There are prizes for reading goals and all children participating in the program will receive certificates regardless of the number of books read.
