County Receives Funding For Fire, Law Enforcement

khts_fireenginefrontEnhancements to fire and police systems in Los Angeles County were approved today by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

The County received funding to enhance a new fire station being built on Whites Canyon Road, scheduled to open in January 2012.

Supervisors approved the acceptance of a $3.5 million grant from the Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency for Station 128, according to Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

The new 10,000 square foot station will be constructed on a 1.5 acre site at 28450 Whites Canyon Road at a total cost of $10 million. It will be 15th fire station serving the Santa Clarita Valley

The Board also accepted a $300,000 grant from the United States Department of Justice for the County’s Gang Cop/Link/Gang Intelligence Information Node Project.

The Gang CopLink Program is a gang data and analysis database network which allows the Sheriff’s Department and 46 other municipal police departments to effectively generate tactical leads and intelligence to help solve and thwart crime, gang activity and terrorism.
