The City of Santa Clarita’s attempt to dissolve a pending lawsuit submitted in the aftermath of its decision to withdraw from the County of Los Angeles Public Library has been bumped to December 21.
According to officials with the Los Angeles Superior Court, a judge today in the Chatsworth courthouse received the demurrer, which could effectively eliminate at least one of the lawsuits filed by Save Our Library against the City.

On August 24, the Santa Clarita City Council voted to remove the three libraries in Valencia, Canyon County and Newhall from the County Library system and instead contract with Library Systems and Services, LLC, a library management company, to administer their day-to-day operations.
The lawsuits filed by Save Our Library seek to prevent LSSI from obtaining library patrons’ personal information.
The hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at the Superior Court in Chatsworth.
