Cowboy Festival in Top 5 of U.S. Festivals

The Santa Clarita Valley’s Cowboy Festival was named by True West Magazine as one of the best cowboy festivals nationwide. The magazine, which provides hard-core western enthusiasts with the knowledge and information its readers need to enjoy their passion, awarded Santa Clarita’s cowboy festival for keeping the history, lifestyle, and Western authenticity alive.

“We are honored to have Santa Clarita’s Cowboy Festival recognized as one of the leading cowboy festivals in the nation, commented Mayor Marsha McLean. Each year, our City with the help of Melody Ranch and all the great Western performers, showcases a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience life in the old west,” she added.

Now in its 53rd year, True West magazine ranked Santa Clarita as having the fourth best Western festival behind Festival of the West in Pheonix, Arizona; Single Action Shooting Society End of Trail in Founders Ranch, New Mexico; and Fort Bridger Rendezvous in Ft. Bridger, Wyoming.

This year, the City will kick off the Santa Clarita Cowboy festival April 25-29, 2007, and will showcase the best performers in western entertainment at Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studios and other local venues throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.

The 2007 cowboy line up includes headliners such as cowboy comedian Baxter Black, cowboy balladeer Don Edwards, heartfelt ballads and cowboy swing music from Wylie and the Wild West, and western melodies from the Sons of the San Joaquin.
