Reservations are currently being accepted for this year’s Celebrity Tribute dinner, the major fund-raiser for Zonta Club of the Santa Clarita Valley, to be held Friday, Nov. 5, at the Odyssey restaurant. Honoree of this year’s Zonta Celebrity Tribute is 2010 SCV Man of the Year Wayne Crawford.
This year’s theme is “Just a Farmer at Heart,” based on the honoree’s love of country living and the menagerie he and wife Diane kept on their Sand Canyon “ranch” while their children were growing up.

The Tribute dinner is a long-standing Zonta event, which several years ago the event returned to its roots with a recognition format, explained Barbara Cochran, one of this year’s event co-chairs.
Invitations will be going out this week to community leaders and former attendees, and reserved tables are expected to sell out early, according to Cochran. Reserved tables for 10 guests are $5,000 for the John Deere level, $2,500 at the Farmall level, and $1,500 for the International Harvester level. Individual tickets are $100.
Co-chairs for the tribute dinner are Barbara Stearns-Cochran, JoAnn Rodriguez, Cheryl Gray and Carolyn Lodes. Other subcommittee roles are being handled by Darleen Lyons, Judy Penman, Pat Allen, Jami Kennedy, Adele Macpherson, Donna Schmidt, JoAnne Lindsey, Pat Warford and Pat Willett. Marilyn Hackett, who produced last year’s show-stopping entertainment for honoree Dr. Alan Barbakow, is working on a new script for this year’s program.
The evening also will include a live auction and a high-end raffle drawing.
Zonta sponsors the dinner each year as a fun way to raise funds to further the club’s mission of advancing the status of women. Zonta’s charitable 501 (c) (3) foundation finances the club’s local and international service projects as well as a grant program that supports local organizations with programs and projects that support women locally.
Sponsor tables or individual tickets for this year’s Tribute can be reserved by calling the Zonta message line at (661) 252-9351.
