The four suspects were arrested at the Meritage Homes construction site off Golden Valley Road, per Sheriff’s Station officials.

Deputies came upon the four teenagers, who said they were students at California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, and they needed the dry wall for an art project, and it was the only place they could find it, according to the Sheriff’s Station report.

CalArts contacted KHTS AM-1220 on Friday, and reported the teenagers were not enrolled at CalArts, the renowned Valencia arts college.

The victim reported to deputies that the four suspects: Matthew Berleson, 18; Briana Crockett 18; Nicholas Johnson, 18; and Allyson Stumpf, 18, did not have permission to be on the property.

The students reportedly admitted the theft, but the District Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute a theft or trespassing charge, according to officials, who said the status of the art project was also unknown.

  1. Last time I was at Home Depot, I swear I saw stacks of Drywall there both 8 footers and 12 footers…and even some 2×2 squares pre cut for that small job.
“That was the only place they could find it?” Lol, didn’t look very hard.

  2. Maybe these dumb ass kids should have planned their project out a little better and purchased their supplies during regular business hours.
I appreciate your humor as the world can always use a good laugh.
    I need 15 new windows for a project I have…hmmm
