An alleged Santa Clarita arsonist was arrested Saturday on suspicion of setting a brush fire in the Santa Clara riverbed near Bouquet Canyon Road in the middle of Southern California’s wildfire season.

Johnny Floreszamora, a 29-year-old transient, was arrested by deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station shortly after noon Saturday, according to arrest records.
Deputies originally responded to reports of an illegal fire in the wash, and quickly extinguished the blaze, according to Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the station.

He will return to court Tuesday for an arraignment hearing.
