A briefcase was reported around 11:45 a.m. on the 22600 block of Stevenson Ranch at the Wells Fargo, station officials said.

As a precaution, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station evacuated the building shortly after, while awaiting the arrival of the bomb squad.

The Arson Explosives Detail is based in Whittier, however, there are deputies with that detail who live in the area.

Deputies were scheduled to arrive at 1 p.m. to investigate the finding, which is also near the local field office for Congressman Howard “Buck” McKeon.

That office was also evacuated, with people expected to be kept out until the briefcase has been cleared.
