Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to an RV storage lot on the 28000 block of Castaic Canyon Road early Saturday morning after receiving reports of multiple vehicles being burglarized, according to officials.

Once they arrived on scene, officials were able to visually confirm that at least a dozen RV’s had been broken into.

Initial reports indicate that the burglars stole a variety of items from the RV’s, ranging from electronics to common household items, according to law enforcement officials.

The crime has been identified as a burglary, not a robbery, due to the requirements for robbery under the California Penal Code. Robbery is defined as taking or trying to take something from someone that has value by “utilizing intimidation, force or threat,” and at least one victim must be present during the crime, according to the Penal Code.

Burglary, on the other hand, is defined as “the unlawful entry to a structure to commit theft or a felony,” and no victim needs to be present. Law enforcement officials believe that the burglars came late in the night Friday, and have not received any reports of a victim interacting with the burglars, resulting in the categorization of burglary.

While law enforcement officials are still actively investigating the burglaries, no suspects had been identified as of Sunday morning.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121.

  1. It seems to me that Castaic has a lot of potential to be a fabulous town, and just around the corner from the more populated areas. The sad thing is, that there is still that uncomfortable feeling when Castaic is a subject of conversation.
Too bad only a few people have ruined the potentially beautiful city that we call Castaic.
