On Monday, July 6, a man was arrested for an alleged parole violation, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.
William Robert Billingsley, 51, allegedly brandished a knife in front of his parents at their Valencia home, officials said.
“We had a report of a family disturbance where the suspect was on parole got into an argument with the family,” Lt. Derek Sabatini with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, said in a previous story. “The family went outside and we tried talking him out of the house. He turned himself in and we are going to take him for a parole violation.
“The original report of assault with a deadly weapon appears to be untrue. There may have been a knife involved but no threat was made with the knife.”
Billingsley could have had $25,000 bail for suspicion of brandishing a knife, but being in possession of a weapon is a parole violation, officials said, and a parole violations results in no bail.
“Unfortunately, we can’t bail you out if you’re being held on a parole violation,” said Inessa Chavez, vice president of All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita. “There’s not much we can do.”
A parole, or probation violation occurs when a person convicted of a crime breaks the terms of their probation, Chavez said. Depending on how serious the violation or crime is, the person could receive more jail time, fines or extended probation.
“Stories of probation violation, don’t occur often but aren’t unheard of,” Chavez said, adding that people have come into All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita looking to bail out loved ones who have been rearrested for a probation violation.
