“In the bail bonds world, there can be many times where ethical conduct is necessary,” said Inessa Chavez, vice president of All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita. “We have to use our best judgement when bailing someone out of jail and we have to use ethics to carry out the business well.”

Ethics are known as the moral standards by which people judge behavior, according to a California Bail Education textbook. They’re often known as the “golden rule” or treat others the way you want to be treated.

Business ethics refers to the moral rules and regulations concerned with governing the business world, according to the textbook. The California Department of Insurance is one of the governing bodies of those who work in the bail bonds business, like agents at All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita.

“We are honest, objective, careful, open with each other, respectful, responsible, non discriminatory, competent and protect each other,” Chavez said. “We run our business with integrity, confidentiality and legality.”

  1. When we determine that money is the criteria for being released from jail, that in itself is unethical. If I can’t afford bail I sit in a cell without the same access to an attorney as those who can afford bail.I can’t earn a living and continue working for my family if I can’t make bail, and if I have children how does my spouse continue working while I sit in a cell waiting for trial?

  2. The idea of using money as a criteria for being released from jail is inherently unethical. While one sits in jail they have less contact with their attorney, they can’t provide for their families, and they could lose their jobs even if innocent due to absence from work.We need money out of the justice system to make it more just.
