Deputies took 29-year-old Denis Lopez and 30-year-old Maria Rodriguez into custody Monday morning.

Just before midnight Sunday, deputies responded to the 27300 block of Sumac Court in Canyon Country after receiving reports of an assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim and his wife were allegedly assaulted with a blunt object by four people in the parking lot of an apartment complex, according to Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment, she said. They told deputies that they were acquaintances of some of the suspects.

Miller said two of the suspects had not been taken into custody as of Wednesday night. The incident is still under investigation.

Lopez and Rodriguez were both arrested on assault with a deadly weapon charges. Lopez is being held in lieu of a $57,767 bond, and bail for Rodriguez has been set at $30,000.

  1. Will their children get to stay with the couple? The Illegals north of USA border have children with them. Terrible to separate the family here in the Los Angeles Area.

  2. Why are you assuming they are immigrants and illegal? No where in the article does it say they are here illegally.

  3. Children are taken away from their moms everyday…mom or Dad does a crime, the kids are introduced to DCFS. Nothing new but I’m sure that the the immigrant children will have more rights than American ones…there are no winners here…just more whining from the Left about something else because Hilary didn’t win…
