Canyon Country Woman Accused Of Killing Her Brother, Shooting Father Returns To Court

The Canyon Country woman who pleaded “no contest” to charges of killing a member of her family and wounding another continued her sanity hearing on Tuesday.

“She was found not guilty by reason of insanity at the time of the crime,” said Ricardo Santiago, spokesperson for the District Attorney’s office.

Jessica Paige Greenback, 25, pleaded “no contest” to charges stemming from her suspected responsibility in the 2015 murder of her brother in their Canyon Country home in October.

But a hearing to determine her sanity at the time of the killing was later requested, according to officials.

Greenback allegedly shot her 28-year-old brother and her father in the home, Sheriff’s officials said.

“She killed her brother and shot her dad, and she tried to kill another individual in the house, but he was not hurt,” said Lt. John Corina of the Homicide Bureau of the Sheriff’s Department, in a previous KHTS article.

Greenback’s father was grazed by a bullet, according to officials.

A third person, James Gorman, was allegedly shot at by Jessica Greenback, but not injured.

Johnnie Greenback, the suspect’s brother, died at a local hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head at the Danielson home.

Jessica Greenback is due back in court on Feb. 13.
