Around 2 a.m., a woman noticed a man was trying to force entry into her home on the 36000 block of Ridge Route Road.

Once the suspect had forced entry into her home, the woman fled her residence and then called 911 to report the break in, but she then saw the suspect leave her home.

Thinking she was safe, the woman returned to her home and then barricaded the front door. However, the suspect then broke into the home using a rear entrance, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.

This time around, however, the woman armed herself with a handgun. After a short confrontation with the suspect, the homeowner fired a shot at the suspect, hitting him in the chest.

Deputy personnel arrived on scene and rendered aid until paramedics arrived.

The suspect, a male Hispanic adult, was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in fair condition and is in custody for a burglary charge.

The homeowner declined to comment about the incident when reached by phone Monday, but confirmed the operation of the nearby business, Castaic Canine Camp, was unaffected by the incident.

Neighbors in the remote canyon, who did not wish to give their names, said they were not surprised the homeowner got the upper hand, saying Sheriff’s deputies response times to the area were not as quick as other areas, and residents are prepared for anything that could happen in that time.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Detective Bureau at (661) 255-1121. 1. The Second Amendment is for the benefit of law abiding Americans. Too bad California is steadily eroding it.

    • Amen, Harry!

    • Couldn’t agree more. I had to get my CCW from another state. However it still isn’t valid in CA but 33 other states gov figure. Libtards think it’s safer to have honest hard working people left with no protection but then the thugs know this and have no problem going into your house knowing there’s probably no defense against them. I hate that I have to have a gun ready whoever in aft in my home but I know I’ve at least got a chance. I’m disabled so I can’t fend off 1-3 or more thugs by myself anymore but I’m sure I can shoot better than most thugs. Thanks to my years of training and preparedness lol. Hope it never happens but I’m ready.

    • Don’t live in California. If Trump lasts 8 years, he might do something about that. California has for a long time, wanted to separate from the states. Let them be their own country, I don’t care. But they would lose federal assistance, so I doubt they will. Besides, Cal. is turning into North Mexico.
When seconds count, the law is only minutes away.

    • I am moving to Arizona in a few months. CA anti gun politics has pushed me over the edge. I will welcome AZ pro gun laws and the right to carry a firearm without a permit. Way to go Arizona I look forward to becoming an arizonan.

  2. I sucks for criminals when the darned victims have the audacity to grab a weapon.

  3. Mama's got her gun ready

Jeff that was funny. Bill, it’s you’re.

  4. I’ll be the homeowner is going through hell proving their right to bear arms in this situation. I wouldn’t be surprised if charges are brought up. California sucks!!!!!!!!!

  5. Good for her! He obviously wasn’t smart enough to quit after the first time!

  6. To bad he lived we could have saved tax payer money in housing the dirt bag in our prison system.

  7. From what I heard. The suspect was stupid enough to go on a property with a large dog kennel that were all barking. Great alarm to the victim, good shooting!

  8. Unbelievable that he came back in at least he wasn’t outside of her home,. however if she had shot him in the doorstep she would be at fault and he could sue HER! Good for you, And everyone stay safe .

  9. Glad she had the gun and used it. She had the gun and knew when to use it. Lone women are targets for these creeps. I keep my by my bed but have never had to use it yet. But you never jnow

  10. It’s not just the second amendment. The Magna Carta said a man’s home is his castle and has the right to defend it. And the Roman Republic required all male citizens to carry a weapon for defense of themselves and society.
But I’m glad is was the culprit and not the resident who got hurt. And I hope the DA is smart enough to realize she was defending herself as she had the ancient right to do.

  11. High Capacity ban stopped by Judge said And while the ban was approved by a majority of California voters, Benitez noted, “[The] constitution is a shield from the tyranny of the majority.”

Finally a Judge who understands the RIGHTS of the LAWFUL over the FREEDOM of the CRIMINAL to only have a gun but bullets to back up CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS.

Imagine if intruder faceed her inside now without a DEFENSIVE WEAPON! But that is what gun control does-makes victims from lawful citizens!

  12. Petition Supreme Court to hear PERUTA V. CALIFORNIA!

  13. 95% of criminals shot in the act of a crime and survive do not return to crime! Gun control is a FAILURE!

  14. She should have shot him more. Or at least seriously injured rhe creep. He came back knowing she was there. Waste of tax payers money housing and feeding
these criminals. They get out and usually go right back to what they know. I am glad she is safe.

  15. I actually thought of retiring to California. I’m so glad my brain was working and I moved to Florida where people’s rights to self defense are recognized.

  16. This type of story is frequently published. I would be more interested to hear about the final outcome after court proceedings and such. For all we know the shooter in this situation could be charged and the criminal could win a civil case against her. It sounds like a clean shoot, but things aren’t always what they seem, especially when it comes to the legal system in California. Hopefully there isn’t a liberal judge and DA trying this case in the end. Shootings are horrible events, but the aftermath is the real shitstorm in this state.
