Kurt McMillon, a 24-year-old Castaic resident, was arrested on assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem charges, according to Lt. Brenda Cambra with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The assault allegedly took place around 7:15 p.m. Sunday evening on the 25300 block of Rye Canyon Road, where McMillon and the victim, a male adult, were playing indoor soccer.

The victim reportedly did a slide tackle into McMillon, causing him to fall, according to Cambra.

“While on the ground, (McMillon) became very upset and bit the victim’s finger,” according to station documents.

Cambra confirmed that the victim had to be treated at a local hospital for his injury.

After the alleged assault, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station investigated and worked to ID the suspect.

“There was a field investigation, (handled by) deputies.” said Cambra. “The suspect was arrested on (June 21).”

Bail for McMillon was set at $100,000, and he was released on bond.

The date of McMillon’s first court appearance was not available on Friday.
