Coroner ID’s Body Found In Wash, Trying To Notify Family

A man whose body was found in the Santa Clara River in Canyon Country Friday morning has been identified and Coroner’s officials are working to locate and notify the next of kin, officials said Sunday.

SCV Deputies Respond To Dead Body Found In River WashInvestigator Betsy Magdaleno of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office said the man was a 64-year-old transient whose cause of death has not been determined yet.

Deputies received the call regarding an adult male found face down in the wash near the intersection of Langside and Soledad Canyon Road around 10:50 a.m., officials said.

Multiple deputies are on scene and a helicopter was called in for a possible rescue; however, fire officials cancelled medical units because they determined the man was dead.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau was called around 12:30 p.m.
