An attempted kidnapping suspect, who was arrested one day after he was booked on a misdemeanor burglary charge, pleaded not guilty at his second arraignment on Thursday, District Attorney’s officials said Thursday.

Guillermo Lomeli Ceniceros, a 39-year-old resident of Rosamond, was arrested for a commercial burglary charge, which was downgraded to a citable misdemeanor with the passage of Proposition 47, one day before his alleged kidnapping attempt in Canyon Country.
Ceniceros is due back in court for a pre-trial on Sept. 13.
Ceniceros was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014.
Ceniceros was arrested for a commercial burglary charge — which was recently downgraded to a citable misdemeanor with the passage of Proposition 47 — one day before his alleged kidnapping attempt.
Sheriff’s Station officials put out a Nixle alert looking for the suspected victim in an attempted kidnapping Wednesday, officials said.
Ceniceros is accused of trying to abduct a 13-year-old girl Wednesday morning around 8:30 a.m., near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Jakes Way.
Witnesses reported to detectives an older Hispanic man attempted to grab and kidnap a teenage girl. The witness stopped their vehicle yelled at the suspect, who was fighting with the alleged victim, according to officials.
“This arrest was made with the help of a proactive citizen who took the time to help out a fellow resident in need,” said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The witness told the girl to run away, and then the witness kept an eye on the suspect and directed the responding deputies to his location, according to Sheriff’s Station officials. Ceniceros was taken into custody a second time Wednesday night.
The victim came forward Thursday, after officials reached out to the community, and the suspect, Ceniceros is now being held in lieu of $100,000.
Sheriff’s Station official put out Nixle reports as a way to notify residents about urgent alerts and upcoming events.
A business employee performed a citizen’s arrest at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday for a misdemeanor theft from the Stater Bros.on Sierra Highway, near Via Princessa, in Canyon Country.
Normally, such a commercial burglary charge, i.e. a suspect is believed to enter a store with the intent to steal, would be an arrest resulting in an overnight booking, unless the suspect makes bail.
Proposition 47 created 459a in the California Penal Code, which makes commercial burglary a misdemeanor offense requiring a citation with a court date. The previous charge was 459.
No other information is available at this time, officials said.
