Nicholas Colletta, 21, allegedly shot and killed Ivan Solis, 25, at Begonias Lane Park in Canyon Country in 2017, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Solis was at the park shortly before 5 a.m. on July 11 when witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots.

When deputies arrived, they discovered Solis dead from multiple gunshot wounds near the park restrooms.

Colletta was later arrested and charged with premeditated murder. He is a previously convicted felon, with three priors in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Jaqueline Arreola, 24, who was at the crime scene when law enforcement arrived, was arrested as an accessory for Solis’ murder for allegedly having knowledge of the crime and deliberately concealing it.

Arreola pleaded guilty to the accessory charge, but has not yet been sentenced.

Colletta was held in Men’s Central Jail with a $3.1 million bail, while Arreola was in custody at Century Regional Facility in lieu of $2 million bail.

Colletta pleaded not guilty in April 2018 to the charge of premeditated murder.

The trial readiness hearing Monday was a procedural hearing to make sure that Colletta’s case is ready for trial.

Jury selection for Colletta is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the San Fernando Courthouse.

Colletta is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 9 to begin his jury trial.
