Michael McGlothan, 54, of Canyon Country, pleaded no contest to two counts in connection with the 2015 fatal shooting — voluntary manslaughter and assault with a deadly weapon.

McGlothan is expected to be sentenced to 28 years and four months in state prison when he’s sentenced on December 20, according to the case’s prosecutor.

Prosecutor Ani Bailey of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said there was a reason McGlothan was offered a plea deal, but that would not be able to be disclosed publicly until McGlothan’s sentencing in December.

He was arrested in June 2015 after leading authorities on a nationwide manhunt.

The manhunt began after McGlothan was identified as the main suspect in a shooting that killed Ledarion Allen Jr., 21, of Lancaster, and injured Shatari Shene Cooks, 30, in a Canyon Country apartment in May 2015.

McGlothan was caught less than a month later when he was stopped near a highway toll booth on the New York State Thruway in western New York, according to a statement from the police department’s Buffalo office.

He was initially charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder. He was being held in lieu of $3 million bail.
