Denise Ann Gillis, 50, was sharing a home with her father, James Gillis, 87, on the 31900 block of Emerald Lane in a small residential community called Stonegate when he was found dead on Sept. 5, 2014.

Her father was reportedly found with several stab wounds and injuries on his head, according to officials from the LA County District Attorney’s office.

After doubts were raised about her mental competency, mental health experts determined that Gillis was competent to stand trial in August.

Gillis is currently being held at Century Regional Detention Facility in lieu of more than $1 million bail and is set to return to court on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
