The sentence Jacqueline Wadsworth, 32, for was much lighter than the plea deal for her live-in boyfriend, Francisco Avedano, due to a number of factors, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

She had no record, no history of this sort of behavior,” said Deputy District Attorney Julie Kramer, who prosecuted the case, in addressing the sentence and charge discrepancy. “According to the facts of the case, she was acting on his direction.”

The charges were primarily against Avedano, whom prosecutors believe primarily waS responsible for the sexual abuse.

Wadsworth pleaded no contest to one count of lewd act upon a child under 13, and in addition to supervised probation and time served in jail, she is ordered to take a 52-week, probation-approved sexual compulsion class and register as a sex offender for life.

The attorney for Wadsworth, who’s also a client of the Westside Regional Center (community centers that help those with developmental disabilities), claimed his client was also manipulated by Avedano.

Avendaño, 42, entered no contest pleas to 12 counts of lewd act upon a child under 14, two counts of lewd act on a child 14 years old and one count each of lewd act upon a child 15 years old and continuous sexual abuse.

Avedano was scheduled to be sentenced today, also; however, he was a medical “miss-out.” The judge did not discuss why Avedano was not in court.

The victims ranged in age from 3 and 15 years old, Kramer said.

Avedano is due back in court on Aug. 17 to be sentenced. His plea term limited his maximum jail sentence to 49 years, which he must serve 85 percent of, Kramer said.

He was facing multiple life counts if convicted on all charges.

  1. This “sentence” is a joke and a total insult to the families of the victims. I am disgusted with the judicial system and the prosecutors. How can they live with themselves?
