Nelly Babinski-Dhont, 50, is facing a misdemeanor charge of vehicular manslaughter for the death of a motorcyclist who was struck and killed on June 17, 2015 in Canyon Country, said Ricardo Santiago, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Leo Castillo, 53, of Santa Clarita, was killed when his motorcycle collided with a truck Babinski-Dhont was allegedly driving on the northbound side of Sierra Highway, near Sand Canyon Road.

Castillo was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was reported at 7:02 a.m, officials said.

In a Facebook post, an Agua Dulce resident claimed the woman who was driving the truck ran a red light and struck a motorcyclist who was making a legal left-hand turn.

Babinski-Dhont turned herself into authorities at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on May 4, 2016 after a warrant was issued for her arrest, according to officials.

Bail was set at $25,000 and Babinski-Dhont was released from jail 10 days later, arrest records show.

She is scheduled to return to court on August 10 for a pretrial hearing.
