Russell Harris, 34, is charged with breaking into a Los Angeles home in 2016 and sexually assaulting the female tenant before fleeing, officials with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.

Pretrial hearings are held prior to any trial action begins and after a preliminary hearing is held — with the goal of reviewing possible testimonies and evidence.

If convicted, Harris faces up to life in state prison.

Deputy District Attorney Teresa De Castro with the Sex Crimes Division is prosecuting the case. Bail was set at $2.3 million.

Harris is expected to return to court for a pretrial continuation on Oct. 24.
