Deputies Release Crime Reports, Robberies, Assault

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies have released the crime reports for the week of Oct. 13-19.

Family members found a relative who was reported missing last week in an overturned car down an Acton embankment, officials said Monday.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a man suspected of robbing Walgreens with a shotgun for drugs, officials said Thursday.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a burglary suspect after residents called officials about suspect activity in Saugus and Valencia.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies are investigating a reported assault after an online video showed a group of alleged Hart district students beating up another student on the Valencia High campus Friday. More video regarding a Valencia High fight circulated online was followed by disciplinary action for several of the students involved in “a complex altercation” that began 11 days ago, Hart district officials said Thursday.

Crime Reports

KHTS publishes crime reports in alphabetical order by community as they are made available.

Here are the crime reports for Canyon Country East, Canyon Country West, Castaic/ Val Verde, Newhall and Valencia.

Canyon Country East

A residential burglary was reported near the17800 block of Deana Lane. The suspect removed the kitchen window and entered the apartment.  A 55” LG TV,  32” Mangnavox TV, Xbox, Sheriff's Department Crime Classification Given OK By County InspectorWII, Sony DVD player and a Apple Mac book were stolen from the apartment.

There was a residential burglary was reported near the 27300 block of Rock Rose Lane. The unknown suspect removed the outer window screen while the victim was home.  Unknown if entry was made.

A residential burglary occurred near the 18100 block of Terra Verde Place. The suspect made entry through the upstairs master bedroom window.  The suspect stole a Playstation 3, Ipad mini, a coach belt and a Gucci belt.

A residential burglary was reported near the 18300 block of Oak Canyon Place. A maintenance worker saw a juvenile run from the location carrying a jar of coins. The witness also saw several other juveniles running from the apartment.   Items taken were a jar of US currency, Dell laptop and a Compaq laptop.

A grand theft auto/burglary was reported near the 15600 block of Live Oak Springs Canyon Road. The victim locked his 2005 Harley FLHTC in his garage while he was out of town on a trip (09/29/14-10/09/14).  When he returned home he found that his garage lock had been cut and his motorcycle was missing.

A petty theft occurred near the 17100 block Soledad Canyon Road.  In this incident the suspect stole a small air conditioning unit from outside the location.

A grand theft occurred near the 27100 block of Silver Oak Lane.  In this incident the victim left 6 new iPhones in his unlocked vehicle overnight.  When he came out to his vehicle the next morning he saw that the phones were missing.

Canyon Country West

A robbery occurred near the 19400 block of Soledad Canyon Road.  A male white adult displayed what the victim thought looked like a gun and demanded “Xanax.”  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A residential burglary occurred near the 26700 block of Claudette Street.  Person(s) unknown entered the victims garage and stole items from within.   This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A residential burglary occurred near the 19000 block of Vicci Street.  Person(s) unknown entered his locked residence and stole numerous different items from within.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A grand theft occurred near the 20700 block of Soledad Canyon Road.  Person(s) unknown pried the lock off of the rear vehicle tool box and stole numerous different power tools.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Three shopliftings occurred near the 26400 block of Carl Boyer Drive.  In all three incidents, the suspects were caught and arrested.  These incidents are currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Castaic

There was an assault reported from the 27000 block of Violin Canyon.  During a neighbor dispute, one resident reported the other pointed a knife at him and lunged in his direction.  The suspect was arrested by responding deputies.

A 2014 Ford C-Max was reported stolen from the 27000 block of Starlight Lane.  The victim’s vehicle was recovered the next day parked at the same location.

A theft of vehicle batteries was reported from a construction site on Quail Valley Road and Sloan Canyon.  A water truck parked on the site had two batteries taken from an unlocked compartment on the side of the truck.

Newhall

On Monday the 13th, between midnight and 7:00 a.m., a burglary occurred in the 25000 block of Newhall Avenue.  The suspect entered through a rear window and took property belonging to the residents.

On Wednesday the 15th, at around 10:00 p.m., a 40 year old male was struck by an unknown assailant while walking near Lyons Avenue and Chestnut Street.  The victim said he had seen a group of males in the same area, but did not see who struck him.

On Sunday the 19th, between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., an unattended cell phone was stolen in the 24800 block of Orchard Village Road.

Proactive deputies working Newhall made several arrests last week, including a 48 year old male from Ventura, who on Monday the 13th, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, brass knuckles, and drug paraphernalia.

Valencia

A spousal assault occurred near the 24900 block of Avenida Balita.   The victim was involved in a verbal argument with her live in boyfriend.   The argument escalated and the suspect threw water on the victim and put a lit cigarette out on her cheek.  The victim sustained injuries to her face, but was not transported to the hospital.

A robbery occurred near the 24300 block of Valencia Boulevard.  The victim was approached by a male Hispanic adult who asked him what time it was.  The victim pulled out his cell phone to inform the suspect of the time.   As the victim was doing this the suspect grabbed the victim’s phone and told the victim “you just got jacked”.  The suspect fled the area on foot and out of sight.

A theft occurred near the 28500 block of Westinghouse Place.  The victims were staying in a local hotel when they left their room for a short time.  When they returned back to their room they noticed their hotel room door was slightly ajar.  As they entered their room they noticed numerous items missing from their drawers.  Numerous high dollar personal jewelry items were missing from their room.   No one from the hotel entered their room according to the staff.

An attempted burglary occurred near the 24000 block of Oak Vale Drive.  An unknown male black adult tried to gain access into the residence.  The suspect tried to slide a credit card up and down near the locking mechanism in an attempt to gain entry into the location.  Responding deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

This past week we had six incidents of shoplifting occur at local stores.  Out of the six incidents, five suspects were arrested by patrol deputies and booked at the Santa Clarita Station.  Our detective bureau is currently investigating each one of these cases.
