Deputies arrested a man Thursday night in Canyon Country after determining that he was in possession of an unregistered firearm, officials said.

Deputies responded shortly before 2:30 p.m. to a report of a person with a gun on Sandy Drive in Canyon Country, said Sgt. Peacock with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

At least one person was detained immediately following the incident, according to a deputy at the scene.

That person was officially arrested by deputies, according to station officials.

“In the end we arrested one person for possession of an unregistered firearm,” said Sgt. Brian Hudson.
