“One of the deputies spotted the (suspect’s) vehicle,” said Lt. Rob Hahnlein with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “When he tried to stop the vehicle, the suspect got out and) ran.”

The deputy set up a containment area near Shangri La Drive shortly after 12:30 a.m. but the suspect was able to escape.

“He must have slipped out of the containment before they were able to set it up,” said Hahnlein, adding that deputies searched for the suspect until approximately 3 a.m.

However, deputies were able to recover the vehicle the suspect was driving, a Hummer.

No description of the suspect was available at 1 p.m. Saturday.
