The woman apparently entered the bank around 11 a.m. with a note stating a man was holding her son hostage at gunpoint, seeking money.
Concerned, bank employees contacted the Sheriff’s Department, and in the meantime, the suspect, a tall, heavyset blonde woman in her 50s, sat down in the lobby, where she was sitting when Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrived.
The woman, whose name was not immediately available, was taken into custody by deputies, who continued to investigate the circumstances around the reported robbery.
She is being charged with a bank robbery, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.
Deputies did not find or arrest any additional suspects.
