Four dead in Santa Clarita after a suspected murder-suicide in the home where the mother ran a daycare, according to friends and neighbors.

A friend of the family confirmed Friday that Amy, Michael, Drew and Sean Birnkrant were the four victims found dead inside their Valencia home Friday morning.
We’ve determined this incident appears to be a murder suicide, where the husband, Michael Joseph, shot and killed all three individuals then turned the gun on himself, said officials on scene.

Amy Birnkrant was the owner of “Birnkrant Family Daycare Home,” a home-based preschool, and had previously taught at Mountainview Elementary. The daycare was not open at the time of the shooting.
Drew Birnkrant, the eldest daughter, 20, was a former track athlete and was a student at College of the Canyons this past Fall semester. Sean Birnkrant, the Birnkrant’s son, was in his “pre-teens.” Both were found dead at the scene.
A welfare check occurred at 6:56 a.m. where dead bodies had been found, according to Sgt. Scott Shoemaker.

They were a Great family and this is very sad news for all and his extended family in the Motion Picture Industry. Mikey sorry you made such a poor choice in life and God Bless you and you whole family . I will miss you old friend and may God be with you all .?
The info had been released by Sheriffs and TV news media previously, which included updated photos of the family. It appears mom had recently lost 70+lbs and enjoyed runnning. RIP family.
“Friends of Family”??? No other reputable news outlet has released names as they have not yet been officially released by authorities! This is irresponsible reporting, show some respect for surviving family of the deserted! Show some responsibility in your reporting!!!
Just because you find information, it doesn’t mean you should publish it. It would be decent to wait until the authorities released the info, but you passed decency in you race to the bottom. Congratulations, you “win”

Maybe because its their job to publish a news story. If they police have released the names to the public then all media outlets will have the names to publish in the news article.
KHTS you should be ashamed of yourself. This happens so often with your organization. Anyone can get information on who is related to tragedies you need to wait until the authorities have released names so they can do their due diligence.

Mental health has taken a back seat to less important pursuits like keeping up with the latest social media events. This tragedy could have been prevented if only someone had the courage to report what was being played out over a long period of time with this family. Anyone who knew them should have witnessed the pain and suffering taking place. We were just to weak to speak up and be real when it was apparent it was the right thing to do. There is no shame in asking for help when you know things are not adding up. Thank GOD no little pre school kids we’re attending class when this mentally unstable man decided to take down 3 innocent people.
