The call came in just after 2:30 a.m. Thursday, said Shirley Miller, a spokeswoman for the station. Units were dispatched to a Saugus neighborhood near Milestone St. and Incline Ave., where a resident reported a woman walking the street and checking cars to see if any were unlocked.

Deputies took her into custody, but a “getaway vehicle” driven by her alleged accomplices fled the scene. Another deputy in the area saw a car driving without headlights and matched it to the description of the vehicle that had just escaped.

After losing sight of the vehicle, deputies requested air support from a Sheriff’s Department helicopter. With the help of overhead units, the deputies found the vehicle, abandoned, on Bobwhite Circle. The suspects had fled the vehicle on foot.
