Solis was at Begonias Lane Park shortly before 5 a.m. on July 11, when witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots.

When deputies arrived, they discovered Solis, 25, of Canyon Country, a male hispanic adult, dead from multiple gunshot wounds near the park restrooms on the 14900 block of Begonias Lane.

Homicide officials believe that Nicholas Colletta, 20, who was already in sheriff’s custody for another crime, and Jaqueline Arreola, 24, both of Santa Clarita, are involved in Solis’ death.

Colletta was charged with being a convicted of a felon with three priors in possession of a firearm, premeditated murder, carrying a loaded firearm/street gang and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Arreola was arrested as an accessory after the fact for the murder of Ivan Solis, for allegedly having information of the crime and deliberately concealing it.

Detectives have not yet announced what the suspects’ connections are to the crime, or whether the shooting was related to gangs or criminal activity.

“We’re still actively investigating this case,” said Lt. Rodney Moore, of the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.

Residents reported to KHTS on scene that there were five popping sounds in the early morning hours, followed by two more.

“It’s a pretty quiet neighborhood. It’s very strange to have all of this activity going on,” said Dianna Eddy, who lives directly across from the park. “This (park) is where the kids go in this neighborhood. we have a lot of kids in this neighborhood.”

Homicide detectives are currently on scene and investigating, according to officials. The Sheriff’s Department’s Mobile Command Center is also on scene.

Fire officials and medical personnel were dispatched to the scene at 5:08 a.m., officials said, and were cleared to enter the park’s facilities by Sheriff’s deputies.

Fire was on scene at 5:23 a.m., but cleared from the scene at 5:23 a.m., according to fire officials.

Arreola is being held at the station in lieu of $2 million bail, and records indicate she has a court date Monday. Colletta is in custody at Men’s Central Jail. His expected release date before the additional charges was August 27, according to department records.
