The suspect, a male juvenile from Canyon Country, is accused of assaulting a 57-year-old male victim with a baseball bat and stabbing him multiple times, said Shirley Miller, public information officer for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The assault occurred just after 6 p.m. Sunday on the 19000 block of Stillmore Street in Canyon Country.

The suspect fled the scene before deputies could arrive, and was brought to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station by his father late Sunday night, Miller said.

The suspect is not related to the victim, but the details of their relationship had not been released as of Monday morning.

Miller noted that the victim was still alive at the hospital as of 9:30 a.m. Monday.

The suspect is being held at Sylmar Juvenile Hall.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation by COBRA Team detectives at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
