Jaime Gonzalez, 21, was arrested shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s records, on the 19100 block of Golden Valley Road.

Residents called the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station to report a suspicious man who was walking around a shopping center parking lot, said Shirley Miller, a spokeswoman for the station. He was apparently trying to open car doors in the parking lot.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they observed Gonzalez exhibiting behavior indicative of being under the influence, Miller said.

After investigating further, the authorities realized that the car Gonzalez had been driving had been reported stolen to the LAPD Hollywood division.

Gonzalez was arrested and charged with grand theft auto, as well as being under the influence of a controlled substance.

This makes Gonzalez’s third arrest in the span of one year, and the second felony charge in the last three years.

Bail was set at $35,000 for Gonzales. He is expected to appear at the San Fernando Superior Court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.

  1. Looks like he is a participant of the revolving door policy that keeps putting criminals back on the street until they kill someone. I hope they do something this time. Like 3 to 5.

  2. Can you say proposition 47 and Prop 59? Oh, and I see quite a few Hispanic surnames in these stories …. Can we have a frank conversation about illegal immigration ?
