Dante Villanueva Lusica, 70, was arrested in April on charges of sexual intercourse with a child under 10 years of age, oral copulation or intercourse with a child under 10 years of age and continuous sexual abuse.

He’s currently being held in Twin Towers jail facility in lieu of more than $2 million while he awaits trial.

His next hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 26 in San Fernando.

Lusica was arrested back in 2011 on suspicion of committing a sex crime against an 8-year-old female who was a student at TaeKwonDo Center, USA on Bouquet Canyon Road. At the time of the 2011 arrest, Lusica was listed on the center’s website as Grandmaster Dr. Dan Lusica, is the President of the PanAm Chung Do Kwan TaeKwon Do Foundation and holds a 9th degree black belt. According to the site, he developed the first TaeKwonDo after-school program for developmentally challenged children.

Later that same year, a $40,000 felony warrant was issued for Lusica’s arrest after he allegedly stole $25,000 from his neighbors through fraud at a water-purchasing company.

Detective Elsee, who investigated the case for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, said when the warrant was put out that the embezzlement took place over two years, from 2009-10.

“The neighborhood off of Sierra Highway at Fitch has to buy their water as a group from Santa Clarita Water Company,” Elsee explained. “What happens is that all the residents pay their water bills to the group and the water gets distributed.”

The company formed by the Fitch Avenue area residents was called “New Mint Water Systems.” That company reportedly showed a loss between January 2009 and December 2010.

“There’s supposed to be a board of directors so that there are check and balances, so there is no misuse of funds or misappropriations,” Elsee said. “Over the years, everyone on the board went away, and Lusica was the only one in charge. According to the bylaws, the residents checked records and they believe that Lusica took $25,000 from the company, allegedly for his own use.”

He was held on $250,000 bail in that case, but later released after the District Attorney’s Office declined to file charges based on insufficient evidence.
