Krystal Edwards, 40, was last seen on Sepulveda Blvd. in Van Nuys, according to business owners and employees in the area, and her family is asking for the community’s continued help in locating her.

The GoFundMe will be used to raise funds for flyers and an independent investigation to find the whereabouts of the missing Hart graduate, said David King, Edwards’ sister’s boyfriend.

“We have created flyers and are raising money to help with the cost of private investigators, and to raise reward money leading to her being found, as well as the cost of printing and distributing these flyers to get the message and her photos in as many hands as possible,” according to the GoFundMe.

King said the private investigators created an algorithm to comb through various social media sites for mentions of Edwards.

“We contacted an independent agency to analyze social media for any mentions of Krystal,” said King. “They have gotten ‘hits’ from San Francisco to near the PCH in Malibu.”

The agency is currently looking into those leads with law enforcement officials, said King.

Krystal Edwards Usrey was last seen on Nov. 11 and had last spoken with her family on Nov. 14, according to the Facebook group “Let’s Find Krystal Usrey Edwards.” Since then, none of her loved ones have been in direct contact with her, or seen her in the Van Nuys locations she usually frequents.

“We’ve ran into people and been put into contact with people in Van Nuys that have said they have seen Krystal around and active in the area,” said Edwards’ sister, Karianne Horwat. “No one can pinpoint her exact location, but the nice thing is that our canvassing on Sepulveda has resulted in people telling us they’ve seen her in the last couple weeks.”

Edwards is 6’2” with blonde hair and has been described as “vivacious, and likes to sing and dance.”

“She was last seen wearing red and black pajama pants and a grey sweatshirt and carrying a grey and pink backpack,” said the LAPD’s official Missing Persons Report. “(Edwards) suffers from schizophrenia and is bipolar.”

In September, before the total break of contact with her family, Edwards had posted videos to her Facebook page displaying behavior that was described as “incoherent.”

“She has two Facebooks, and we had someone reach out to us and say that she asked to be someone’s Facebook friend on Nov. 22,” said Horwat. “We think someone might be using her Facebook through her phone, or she might be asking this person to use her Facebook.”

The family noted that the missing Hart High grad may be identifying herself with the last name “Edwards,” or more likely, “Usrey.”

The Los Angeles Police Department has already filed a missing persons report, and any new information can be directed to Officer Carson at the LAPD Missing Persons Unit at 213-996-1800 or during non-business hours at 877-527-3247.
