The recent window-smash burglaries plaguing the Santa Clarita Valley recently struck Honu Coffee in Newhall early Monday morning.

Employees were notified of the break-in by the store’s alarm company at approximately 2:27 a.m., according to the business’s Facebook page, which also noted money was stolen from the register.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials noted several businesses have been struck by such vandalism recently targeting businesses.
“There have been a rash of window-smash burglaries in one area,” said Maurizi. “It’s a specifically targeted crime… storefront businesses are being targeted by these individuals.”

There is a “crew” that have been involved in burglaries like these that are targeting storefront businesses throughout the county, according to Maurizi.
“My advice to all storefront businesses is don’t leave money in registers,” Maurizi said.
