‘Physically Aggressive’ Stolen Debit Card Suspect Arrested By Santa Clarita Deputies

Santa Clarita deputies arrested a man last week on suspicion of possessing a stolen debit card, after the suspect showed signs of controlled substance use and became aggressive towards them.

Deputies made contact with the suspect, 39-year-old Chad Mataisz, who was reportedly showing signs of intoxication while riding his bike on Bouquet Canyon Road on Aug. 3, according to Shirley Miller, spokeswoman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

When they approached, “the suspect became physically aggressive with the deputies,” Miller said.

He was in possession of a debit card that did not belong to him when deputies took him into custody, Miller said.

Mataisz was arrested on suspicion of being under a controlled substance, as well as resisting an officer and identity theft – both felonies.

Bail was set at $50,000. He is scheduled to return to court Aug. 14.
