The pursuit started around 11:45 a.m. near the McDonald’s on Valencia Boulevard and ended a few minutes later near the intersection of Newhall Avenue and 15th Street after reaching speeds of up to 65 mph.

“The suspect is a known suspect,” said Lt. Leo Bauer with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “The suspect is wanted for a rape that occurred in Santa Clarita Monday night.”

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of several other charges, including felony kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon.

The California Highway Patrol was notified of the pursuit in case the suspect moved onto the freeway, because he was headed towards the Newhall Avenue on-ramp to the southbound 14 freeway, according to officials.

“Our deputies did a good job finding him and taking him into custody,” Bauer said.

Nobody was injuried in the incident.

  1. The story was interesting but the author’s bio was better – very inspirational!

Don’t know you but proud of you Louie!

  2. Why are names on being released in the news any longer? I’m sure it’s bc SC is a cesspool for illegals and god forbid we say anything that puts them in a bad light!

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
