A Parks Bureau deputy patrolling a neighborhood near Chiquito Canyon Road, about a half-mile south of San Martinez Road, spotted a wanted robbery suspect in his vehicle outside a residence at approximately 6:45 p.m., officials said.

The deputy recognized the suspect and requested backup, which then made contact with the suspect, who refused to leave his vehicle, according to initial reports. Deputies eventually extracted the uncooperative suspect, officials said.

The details of the arrest are not known at this time because the suspect was transported to a local hospital for the treatment of minor injuries, according to Lt. Rob Hahnlein of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. The suspect reportedly had sustained injuries prior to contact with the deputies, according to the preliminary report available, he said.

Sheriff’s Station officials could not confirm the suspect’s identity or warrant status because he had not yet been booked at the station.

Los Angeles County Fire Department officials reported a call out for a medical response to the intersection of Chiquito Canyon Road and San Martinez Road at 6:50 p.m., according to Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Kyle Sanford.

The situation is part of an ongoing investigation, and the story will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
