Officials are looking for a man who escaped the California State Prison in Lancaster Saturday night after he reportedly walked away from the facility.

Law enforcement officials discovered Jason Kohr, 36, was missing during a head count at 9 p.m. Saturday. He had last been seen during the 4 p.m. count and at the evening meal.
Kohr is described as a “white male, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 187 pounds with hazel eyes and a shaved head,” according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
He was transferred from a Ventura prison in May 2016 to finish his six-year term stemming from a vehicle theft conviction, attempting to evade a peace officer while driving recklessly and second-degree burglary. He was scheduled to be released in July 2018.

Notification was made to local law enforcement agencies and agents from CDCR’s Office of Correctional Safety were immediately deployed to locate and apprehend Kohr.
Anyone who sees Kohr should immediately contact law enforcement or call 911. Anyone knowing the location or having information about Kohr is asked to contact the LAC Watch Commander at (661) 792-2000, extension 5551 or 6912.

Great… Bad enough to have a “minimum security” prison in LA County. Why are ALL prisons out in the middle of Death Valley and miles away from any city?
How do you walk away or run away from this prison? Don’t you have to scale a wall, use some ladders, hacksaws, and ropes, dig a tunnel, or smuggle yourself out in a trash can?
