Deputies received a reports of a suspicious open window of the 25200 block of Avenida Rotella in Valencia, and began a containment of the area, according to Sheriff’s Station reports, after receiving a report of a white van in the area.
Deputies set up a perimeter, and then received an alert from another resident reporting a suspected prowler who was seen putting on gloves and trying to open the door of a residence on the 28300 block of Rodgers Drive in Saugus.
The resident again reported seeing a white van leave the scene.
Deputies responded to the scene and found the white van that matched witnesses’ description, according to Sheriff’s Station reports.
Rodriguez was detained after a felony traffic stop.
Deputies reportedly found evidence in his van they suspect might have been stolen from Santa Clarita residences.
The alleged crimes are still under investigation, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.
He was arrested at 9:55 p.m. Thursday on burglary, attempt burglary and possession of burglary tools charges, according to Sheriff’s Department arrest records.
He’s due in court Monday and being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
“This is another of example of concerned citizens taking an active role in their community and working with law enforcement to help keep Santa Clarita safe,” said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “It’s why we ask residents that if they see something, they say something.”
