Santa Clarita Deputies Respond To Reports Of Individual With A Gun

Santa Clarita deputies responded to a report of a man wielding a firearm on the Towsley Canyon trail Wednesday.

However, deputies arrived to discover the “gun” in question was only a BB gun made to look authentic.

“We responded to a call that someone had a gun in the Canyon,” said Sgt. Shreves, Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station. “However, the 20-year-old male had a plastic BB gun, and we’re looking into citing him with a misdemeanor.”

The specific charge was not immediately available from station officials as the man had not been booked as of this story’s publication.

The male suspect was accompanied by a 21-year-old woman who was also detained.

“The two individuals were taking pictures back in the canyon,” said Sgt. Shreves.

The female suspect was detained, questioned and will be released, according to officials on scene.

While only a BB gun, officials responded with to a report that an individual was carrying a weapon. On scene, Santa Clarita Sheriff’s deputies brought additional support, including semi-automatic rifles and bulletproof gear.
