Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station officials have released the crime reports for the week of August 25-31.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a report of a suspicious death on the 31900 block of Emerald Lane in Castaic, officials said.

Lancaster Sheriff’s Station deputies are searching for a man suspected of committing carjacking, kidnapping and attempted murder Friday night, authorities said.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials want residents to be advised that LASD will never call and solicit money for fines.

Sheriff’s Department deputies from Los Angeles and Orange counties arrested two men suspected in at least eight burglaries stretching from Castaic to Lake Forest in South Orange County.

A Santa Clarita Valley teen accused of making criminal threats against Valencia High School is due back in court next month, officials said.

Crime Reports

KHTS publishes crime reports in alphabetical order by community as they are made available.

Here are the crime reports for Canyon Country East, Canyon Country West, Castaic/ Val Verde, Newhall, Saugus, Stevenson Ranch and Valencia.

Canyon Country East

An allegedly intoxicated man was arrested Saturday in connection with a hit-and-run collision in Canyon Country, authorities said.

Canyon Country West

A child assault occurred on Golden Valley Road. The suspect was seen striking a five year old boy numerous times by a citizen while driving on Golden Valley Road. The citizen immediately called Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department and followed the vehicle. A short time later the suspect was detained and arrested for child abuse. The victim was taken into protective custody. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives. 

A commercial burglary occurred near the 20700 block of Soledad Canyon Road. Deputies responded to a burglary alarm call and immediately detained two male adults at the scene. After a short investigation, deputies arrested the two suspects for burglary for having store property in their possession. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 20400 block of Soledad Canyon Road. Person(s) unknown forced entry into the victims vehicle and stole his wallet from within. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives. 

A grand theft occurred near Rainbow Glen Drive and Flo Lane. Person(s) unknown cut the catalytic converter from the victims vehicle. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Castaic/ Val Verde

The following crimes were reported in Zone 2, Castaic/Val Verde. 

A vehicle theft was reported from the 31000 block of Ridge Route Road.  A 1996 black 2 door Honda Accord was stolen.

On Monday the 25th, multiple homes in Castaic were burglarized. Two residences in the 32000 block of Sierra Oaks Trail, a residence in the 27000 block of Mariposa Lane and a residence in the 28000 block of Branch Road were all broken into. In each burglary, the suspects gained entry into the homes through rear sliding doors or windows. The suspects ransacked the homes targeting jewelry, cash, electronics and miscellaneous valuable items.  While the suspects were inside one of the homes, the resident returned. The victim saw 1 male adults inside their home and heard a second up stairs. The suspects ran out of the house and past the victim and got into a Porsche Cheyenne which was waiting out front. The victim was able to get the plate of the vehicle. A Sheriff’s department special team and station detectives later arrested multiple male adults in the same vehicle in Irvine in the commission of a residential burglary.

Newhall

Thieves stole hand puppets and electronics after vandalizing a Newhall preschool last week, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials said Wednesday. Deputies responded to a report of vandalism on the 24600 block of Walnut Street in Santa Clarita on Aug. 26, officials said. The suspects entered the school’s classrooms, stole items and vandalized the school, according to a Nixle report.

On Sunday the 31st, at 9:00 p.m., a 44 year old male and his 19 year old son were arrested in the 23700 block of Valle Del Oro after they assaulted a 39 year old male in his residence. 

On Friday the 29th, at 9:50 p.m., a white male, 20-25 years old, was seen on video surveillance entering the unlocked back door of a business in the 24100 block of Lyons Avenue and stole an employee’s backpack. A white female, 20-25 years old, was also seen in the video with the suspect. 

Between Thursday the 28th at 10:00 p.m., and Friday the 29th at 8:00 a.m., several personal items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 23700 block of La Salle Canyon Road.

Saugus

We had a theft from unlocked vehicle in the 27900 block of Featherstar Avenue in the early morning hours of August 31st. The victim discovered that items were stolen from his wallet which was left in his unlocked vehicle. Detectives are working the case.

There were two shoplifts reported over the past week. The first occurred in the 26500 block of Bouquet Canyon Road on August 25th. The suspect fled the location after attempting to steal miscellaneous items from the business. Detectives are following up on the case. The second shoplift occurred in the 26800 block of Bouquet Canyon Road on August 27th. The suspect stole medication from the store when the pharmacist left it unattended. Detectives are following up on leads to this incident.

Stevenson Ranch

A shoplift/burglary occurred near the 25600 block of The Old Road. A female suspect was detained by loss prevention personnel after failing to pay for items she concealed in her purse. The suspect was subsequently arrested by responding deputies.

A shoplift/burglary occurred near the 25800 block of The Old Road. Two female suspects were arrested after failing to pay for alcohol they concealed in a backpack. 

Valencia

Convicted sex offender Yale Yurman was sentenced to 12 years in state prison Wednesday after pleading no contest to one count of annoying a child under the age of 18 with a prior sex crime conviction, said Ricardo Santiago, spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

A robbery occurred near the 24400 block of Magic Mountain Parkway, Valencia. The victim was sitting in her parked vehicle in the parking lot. Without warning a female adult opened her front passenger door and grabbed her purse. The suspect fled the location in a vehicle which was waiting for her. The suspect fled the location in a 2000’s 4 door black Acura. The suspect is described as a female Hispanic adult 5’05”, 115lbs, 18-20 years old. 

A battery causing serious injury, related to a hate crime, occurred near the 25900 block of McBean Parkway. The victim, a male black adult, was at the location, eating dinner, and enjoying the evening, talking to other patrons.  He was having a conversation with another patron. Two male white adults with shaved heads interrupted the victim several times as he conversed with the other patron. The victim left the location and began to walk towards to his vehicle in the parking lot. The victim was approached by the same two men from inside the location. Both suspects’ began to yell racial epithet at the victim.  The victim tried to enter his vehicle and leave the location. Both suspects rushed the victim and began to punch him several times in the face and head. The suspects continued to make racial epithets towards the victim. After a brief struggle, both suspects’ fled the location in an unknown direction. The case is currently under active investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Detective Bureau.
