UPDATED: Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Deputies Investigate Possible Bomb Threat At Wells Fargo Bank

Late Wednesday afternoon, Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a report of a “suspicious package” at the Wells Fargo bank on the 24000 block of Magic Mountain Parkway.

UPDATE 5:47 p.m. — Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station officials have confirmed that the situation is “Code-4,” meaning that the situation is under control and that personnel on scene do not need any further assistance, according to Lt. Bauer.

“Everything has been rendered safe and (the building) has been cleared,” said Lt. Bauer.  “There was no evidence of any device.”

However, law enforcement officials have not yet disclosed if they know the source of the bomb threat.

UPDATE 5:42 p.m. — Deputies have entered the Wells Fargo bank, according to KHTS reporters on scene.

UPDATE 5:24 p.m. — Voluntary evacuations are in place for surrounding businesses in the shopping center parking lot, according to officials on scene.

UPDATE 5:13 p.m. — According to witnesses on scene, both sides of Magic Mountain Parkway — from McBean Parkway to Auto Center Drive — are closed until further notice.

Commuters should plan to use alternative routes such as Creekside Drive and Newhall Ranch Road.

As of 5:13 p.m., LASD officials have not confirmed whether there is credibility to the bomb threat.

ORIGINAL STORY — Located directly across from the Valencia Town Center mall, the Wells Fargo bank has been evacuated and LASD officials are preparing to search the bank, according to Lt. Leo Bauer at the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.

“A person called and said ‘there was a bomb’ and to ‘go find it,’” said Lt. Bauer.

The parking lot to the bank is closed off, and law enforcement officials are thinking about closing Magic Mountain Parkway for the time being.

As of 4:50 p.m. officials had neither confirmed nor denied the validity of the claim or the presence of a bomb.
