Santa Clarita Valley Deputies Release Crime Reports For May 19 – 25

Santa Clarita Valley Crime reports have been released for the period of Monday, May 19 to Sunday, May 25.

A Canyon Country home was barricaded due to illegal activity and health code violations, hash lab materials were uncovered in a routine traffic stop and 18 were arrested in two DUI checkpoints in Santa Clarita this past week.

Santa Clarita Valley Deputies Release Crime Reports For May 19 - 25Two DUI checkpoints in Santa Clarita resulted in 18 arrests Friday, May 23 with one person arrested for driving under the influence.

5 people were hospitalized Saturday, May 24 in a traffic collision involving a Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station vehicle at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Drayton Street, across from the Saugus Cafe.

A Castaic man was detained Saturday, May 24 after a routine traffic stop led SCVEP deputies to the discovery of lab materials used to make hash oil.

Dino Guglielmelli, accused of trying to pay a man to have his wife, Monica Olsen, killed was offered an undisclosed plea deal, officials said Tuesday.

A home in Canyon Country was barricaded Friday May,23 after the home was found to be in violation of numerous health and safety codes. Approximately 10 people were living illegally in the home that was also stealing electricity.

Two suspects were arrested for felony drug charges overnight between Thursday, May 29 and Friday, May 30, with one arrest in Canyon Country and the other in Saugus.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies have released the crime reports for May 19 through May 25 in Canyon Country, Castaic, Newhall, Saugus, Stevenson Ranchand Valencia. KHTS publishes crime reports as they are made available.

Canyon Country Crime – east

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 29500 block of Poppy Meadow St. Deputies detained the suspect after he was seen walking on Poppy Meadow St.  The suspect was seen on surveillance video breaking into the vehicle. During the arrest, stolen property and methamphetamine were located on the suspect’s person.

A prosthetic foot was stolen from the bed of a truck near the 16400 block of Sierra Hwy.  The shipping company that shipped the foot left it in the bed of the truck due to the recipient not being home during the delivery time.

There were to robberies reported on the bike path near 27520 Sierra Hwy.  In each incident the victims were approached by multiple male suspects.  In the first incident the suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and stole his bike along with his backpack containing his wallet and cellphone.  The second incident occurred one hour later in the same area.  In this incident the victim was struck in the head with a skateboard by one of the suspects.  The victim was assaulted by multiple suspects and his wallet was stolen during the incident.  These incidents are currently being investigated by Santa Clarita Station detectives.

Canyon Country Crime – west

This past week in Zone 7, the following Part-1 Crimes occurred:

A robbery occurred near the 16900 block of Sierra Highway. The suspect pointed a replica gun at the victim and demanded her purse. The victim was carrying approximately $6,500 in cash. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A grand theft occurred near the 20100 block of Drasin Drive. The suspect stole approximately $1,600 worth of welding cable from the back of the victims vehicle. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A grand theft occurred near the 27100 block of Sierra Highway. The suspect pulled the victim’s boat cover off and stole all the speakers from within the boat. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A grand theft occurred near the intersection of Camp Plenty Road and Soledad Canyon Road. An observant deputy detained a male white adult for being under the influence of narcotics. During his investigation, the deputy found car keys belonging to a nearby stolen vehicle. The vehicle was returned to the owner, and the suspect was arrested.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Castaic/Val Verde Crime

The following crimes were reported in Zone 2, Castaic/Val Verde.

A vehicle parked on Lake Hughes Road was broken into and a backpack and tent were taken from the passenger seat. An unlocked vehicle parked on Ridge Top Lane had personal items taken from inside.

A resident on Ridge Top Lane reported her diaper bag taken from her unlocked vehicle. Her neighbor found the bag on their lawn and returned it to her. The owner reported nothing missing from the bag; however, there were two unknown prescription pill bottles inside the bag that were not hers.  

Kern County Sheriff’s deputies recovered a vehicle reported stolen out of Castaic. The vehicle was returned to the owner and the suspect is in custody.   

There was a burglary reported in Val Verde. A church on Morningside Avenue reported that thieves entered through an unlocked window and took a soundboard from their music system.  

Gorman/Neenach Crime

Continue to be diligent and report all crimes as well as reporting anything suspicious in your area. Swap phone numbers with your neighbors so you can keep in touch regarding neighborhood issues. Phone numbers are also important in the event that the Sheriff’s Department needs to get ahold of a homeowner who is not at home. We may get the number from a neighbor. Also, if anything is happening in your neighborhood, you can call the neighbors and pass on the information. Creating a phone chain is also a key concept of the Neighborhood Watch program.

A shed was broken into south of the aqueduct near 3 Points Road. A generator and fuel were taken.

A residence was burglarized in the Holiday Valley area where some jewelry and a vehicle were  taken. The vehicle has been recovered.

Newhall Crime

The following crimes were reported in the Newhall area last week.

On Monday, May 19, two juveniles were arrested in the 25000 block of Newhall Avenue for theft of property from another juvenile.  The suspect juveniles were released to a parent and scheduled to appear in court.

A residential burglary was discovered in the 25200 block of Avenida Dorena on Tuesday, May 20.  The resident has been away for an extended period of time, but a possible suspect known to the resident has been identified.

A vehicle theft occurred Tuesday, May 20 at 8:15 a.m. in the 23700 block of Lyons Avenue.  Approximately 1 hour later, a 36-year-old male driving the stolen vehicle was detained by the LAPD. The male suspect was returned to Santa Clarita and is currently being held on $25,000 bail awaiting court proceedings.

A wallet was stolen from an unlocked vehicle Tuesday, May 20 between 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. parked in the 23200 block of Lyons Avenue.

Sometime overnight between Monday, May 21 and Tuesday, May 22, a motorcycle was stolen on the 23700 block of Valle Del Oro.  The motorcycle has not been recovered.

Saugus Crime

The following crimes were reported in the Saugus area over the past week:

There was a residential burglary in the 20500 block of Marshall Way on Saturday, May 24. The victim discovered that someone had smashed the rear glass door of his residence. After checking his belongings he discovered that jewelry was taken. Santa Clarita detectives are working the case.

A theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred in the 28200 block of Blacksmith Drive between the mornings of Thursday, May 22 through Friday, May 23. The victim discovered that personal electronics had been stolen from his unlocked vehicle. Detectives are searching for the stolen items and suspects.

There were multiple arrests made over the past week in the Saugus area. The arrests include narcotics, DUI and assault.

Stevenson Ranch/Westridge Crime

Last week, the following Part 1 crime occurred in Zone 3 Stevenson Ranch.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 25300 block of Chiquella Lane. An unknown suspect shattered the rear passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle and took a backpack and a laptop computer.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 25700 block of The Old Road. An unknown suspect shattered the rear passenger window of the vehicle and took a laptop computer.

A shoplift/burglary occurred near the 25400 block of The Old Road. Two female suspects were detained by loss prevention personnel when they walked out of the location, failing to pay for a shopping cart full of items. The suspects were arrested by responding Santa Clarita Station deputies.

A petty theft/shoplift occurred near the 25500 block of The Old Road. A male suspect was detained by loss prevention personnel after exiting the location, failing to pay for several items of clothing. The suspect was arrested by responding Santa Clarita Station deputies.

Valencia

During the past week, the criminal incidents reported in Valencia included grand theft autos, vehicle burglaries, theft from an unlocked vehicle, and numerous shoplifting reports from local businesses.

A Honda Civic and Honda Accord were stolen between the hours of 3:00 pm to 7:00 am. One was stolen from 25000 block of River Chase Drive and the other one was stolen the 23700 block of Wiley Canyon Road. Both vehicles were also recovered in Santa Clarita within 24 hours of being reported stolen.

Again, there were three vehicle burglaries reported this past week. One occurred in the mall parking lot between the hours of 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. There was no forced entry to the vehicle and the item stolen was a box of floorboards which was left in the back seat of the vehicle. A second burglary occurred at a hotel parking lot between the hours of 11:00 pm to 4:00 am. There was also no forced entry made to this vehicle. Items stolen were a purse and suitcases which were left in the back seat of the vehicle. The third burglary occurred at the 23200 block of Red Bud Ridge between the hours of 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm. The passenger window was smashed by an unknown object. The Item stolen was a wallet from the center console area of the vehicle.

A theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred on the 28100 block of Kelly Johnson Parkway between the hours of 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm. The victim left the driver’s side door unlocked and his wallet in the center console area.
