Santa Clarita Valley Deputies Release Weekly Crime Reports

Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 28-year-old Hispanic man who was found Sunday dead in the trunk of a Honda, officials said.

Here are the crime reports for Canyon Country East, Canyon Country West, Castaic/ Val Verde, Newhall, Saugus, Stevenson Ranch and Valencia.

Canyon Country East Crime

An arson fire occurred near the 14900 block of Daffodil Ave., Canyon Country.  The victim discovered his doormat on fire and saw his next door neighbor (suspect) walking away from his property with a gas can and lighter in hand.  The suspect was arrested and booked for the indicated charge. This incident is currently being investigated by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Arson Explosive Bureau.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies have released the crime reports for the week of May 25-31.A robbery occurred near the 18400 block of Soledad Cyn Rd., Canyon Country.   The victim was standing behind a convenience store, when he was approached from behind by the suspect.  The suspect placed the victim in a chokehold and stole money from his back pocket.   The suspect left on foot in an unknown direction. This incident is currently being investigated by Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station detectives.

A robbery/assault occurred at a business near the 18200 block of Soledad Cyn Rd., Canyon Country. The suspect accused the victim of having an inappropriate relationship with her boyfriend.   The suspect proceeded to assault the victim as second suspect stole the victim’s purse.  The suspects fled prior to the arrival of deputies. This incident is currently being investigated by Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station detectives.

A robbery occurred at a business near the 19100 block of Golden Valley Rd., Canyon Country. The suspect entered the location, selected items, concealed them and attempted to leave.  The suspect got into a physical altercation with loss prevention officers.  The suspect was arrested and booked for the indicated charge. This incident is currently being investigated by Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station detectives.

A burglary occurred at a business near the 16400 block of Sierra Hwy., Canyon Country.  Suspect(s) forced entry into the victim’s business and stole cash and numerous items. This incident is currently being investigated by Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station detectives.

Canyon Country West Crime

An aggravated assault occurred near the 18500 block of Soledad Canyon Road.  A witness stated she observed a male adult possibly stab another male adult near the above location.  Deputies later received a call at a nearby hospital where a patient had admitted himself for care with injuries consistent with possible stab wounds.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A residential burglary occurred near the 19800 block of Sandpiper Place.  Person(s) unknown forced entry into the victim’s residence while she was sleeping and stole her vehicle keys.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A residential burglary occurred near the 27100 block of Crossglade Avenue.  One suspect was arrested when the victim returned home from running errands and spotted the suspect leaving his open garage.  Deputies were called and after a short investigation it was founded the suspect stole the victim’s “piggy bank.”  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

An attempt commercial burglary occurred near the 18700 block of Soledad Canyon Road.  Person(s) unknown attempted to use a sticky rodent tape to capture deposit slips from a nearby automated teller machine.  No deposit slips were obtained.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A grand theft auto occurred near the 20400 block of Soledad Canyon Road.  Person(s) unknown opened the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole her four Disneyland season passes from within.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 27500 block of Poseidon Lane.  Person(s) unknown smashed the victim’s front passenger window and stole his handicap placard from within.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Castaic/ Val Verde Crime

A vehicle was reported stolen from the 29000 block of Castlebury Place.  The white four door 2007 Toyota Corolla was taken between 5-30-15 around 10:00 pm and 5-31-15 at 9:50 am. The California license plate number is 6AKT567.

A theft from vehicle was reported from the 29000 block of Muledeer Road.  The victim reported the front plate missing from his 2013 Toyota Tacoma.  The California license plate number is 53995J1.

Newhall Crime

There were five commercial burglaries on Lyons Avenue between Thursday the 28th at 10:45 p.m., and Friday the 29th at 9:00 a.m.  All the locations had a doors forced open and were located between the 24200 block and the 24500 block.

On Tuesday the 26th at 4:30 p.m., a suspect was seen on surveillance video taking a package that had been delivered to a residence in the 25800 block of Avenida Dorena.Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies have released the crime reports for the week of May 25-31.

Between Wednesday the 27th at 11:00 p.m., and Thursday the 28th at 10:00 a.m., a blue “Huffy” 10 speed mountain bike was stolen from the 24800 block of Walnut Street.

Saugus Crime

A grand theft was reported near the 28800 block of Silversmith Drive.  The victim left her brown “Louis Vuitton” purse on her front porch. She later returned and saw that the purse was missing.

A residential burglary/grand theft auto was reported from the 30200 block of Bouquet Canyon Road. The suspect stole a 2005 Dodge Ram truck from the location.  Deputies later recovered the stolen truck and arrested the driver.

There was a theft from an unlocked vehicle that occurred from the 28400 block of Gold Canyon Road.  The suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole sunglasses, a yellow metal watch, and Polo sunglasses.

A grand theft from a vehicle was reported from the 27400 block of Annette Jo Circle. The victim’s 13 year old daughter stole her vehicle while she was sleeping.  The 13 year old was later detained for taking a vehicle without owner’s consent.

Stevenson Ranch Crime

An attempted burglary occurred on the 25800 block of The Old Rd. An unknown person(s) attempted to pry open the rear door of the location.

A second attempted burglary occurred a second location on the 25800 block of The Old Rd. An unknown person(s) attempted to pry open the rear door of the location.

A grand theft (auto) occurred on the 26300 block of Mitchell Place.  An unknown person(s) stole the victim’s vehicle from the driveway of his home.

A shoplifting occurred on the 25400 block of The Old Rd.  A female adult attempted to leave the location with several items she did not pay for.  She was arrested for petty theft.

A grand theft occurred on the 27700 block of The Old Rd. An unknown person(s) stole the victim’s ring which she had left in the pocket of her jacket.  The victim had accidently left her jacket in a room at the location and returned for it the next day.

A petty theft occurred on the 23300 block of The Old Rd.  An unknown person(s) stole the victim’s prescription medications which he had left in the center console of his vehicle.  The informant suspects that the items may have been taken by two adult females that he had picked up earlier that evening and left in his vehicle unattended while he was buying gasoline.

Valencia Crime

An assault with a deadly weapon occurred near the 23900 block of Del Monte Drive.  Two males who were in a dating relationship became involved in a physical altercation.  One male attacked the other with a wooden club (Bowling Pin) and caused some serious injuries.  Both parties were arrested from the location as a result of this incident.

A grand theft occurred near the 24100 block of Magic Mountain Parkway. Two female suspects entered the location and stole over 2,000 thousand dollars worth of women’s undergarments. This case is currently under active investigation by our station detective bureau.

A shoplifting theft near the 24100 block of Magic Mountain Parkway.  A female adult was arrested from the location for exiting the store with items in her possession she failed to pay for. A male suspect accompanied the female suspect, but he was able to flee the area prior to the deputies arrival.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 25500 block of Via Impreso.  An unknown suspect entered the victim’s vehicle, and stole personal items from inside the vehicle.  No signed of forced entry was observed on the vehicle.

A petty theft occurred near the 24700 block of Riverchase Drive.  An unknown suspect entered the victim’s vehicle, and stole personal items from inside the vehicle.  No signed of forced entry was made into the location.
