Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies from the Crime Prevention Unit released crime reports for neighborhood activity this past week.

KHTS AM-1220 publishes the crime reports from the Sheriff’s Station once a week, as they’re released, in alphabetical order, as well as the area’s top crime stories.

A murder-suicide, the second murder in as many months this year, was reported in Stevenson Ranch on Sunday.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a report of two gunshot victims around 7:53 p.m., outside a FedEx store on The Old Road and Pico Canyon Road.

Initial reports indicated the shooting involved a 56-year-old Hispanic man and a 51-year-old Hispanic woman.

A Santa Clarita Valley Boy Scout troop is hosting an informational meeting to help parents regarding missing children reports, safety tips and what to know in case something happens.

James Cornwall, member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 587, will be holding a community outreach program for parents who are concerned about their child’s safety.

A basketball coach at Einstein Academy was arrested on charges he molested several boys over a several-year period dating back to 2011. He joined Einstein Academy in 2014.

Randolph “Randy”  Jackson, 28, was arrested on a felony complaint filed Feb. 13 charging him with a total of 20 counts in case BA433664. Prosecutors will ask that his bail be set at $840,000.

West Ranch High hosted its annual “Every 15 Minutes” program to try and prevent irresponsible decisions by teen drivers.

Here are the week’s crime reports:

Canyon Country East

This past week in Zone 8, the following Part-1 Crimes occurred:

A grand theft occurred near the 29600 block of Poppy Meadow Street. The victim reported that several items that were secured with tie down straps were stolen from the back bed of his truck. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A grand theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred near the 29300 block of Sequoia Road. The victim said that person(s) unknown stole several items from the victim’s unlocked vehicle. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A burglary occurred near the 18000 block of Annes Circle. The victim reported that person(s) unknown entered their residence and stole several items from the location. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 20800 block of Centre Pointe Parkway. The victim reported that their vehicle was broken into ransacked and their purse was stolen. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A stolen license plate occurred near the 28900 block of Prairie Lane. The victim reported that their license plate was stolen from their vehicle.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Canyon Country West

A robbery occurred near the 19000 block of Soledad Canyon Road.  Two suspects entered a nearby business and began concealing store items.  When the suspects began walking toward the exit, a store employee stood in front of the suspects and demanded the concealed items back.  One of the suspects pushed the victim out of the way and the two suspects ran out of the location.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff detectives.

A residential burglary occurred near the 26700 block of Claudette Street.  Two suspects were seen on surveillance cameras entering the victims garage and taking items from within his vehicle.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff detectives.

A commercial burglary occurred near the 19900 block of Soledad Canyon Road.  Person(s) unknown smashed the front window to a nearby business and took items from within.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff detectives.

An assault with a deadly weapon occurred near the 19300 block of Soledad Canyon Road.  The victim was waiting in a nearby business parking lot for his friend to pick him up.  The friend arrived and parked his vehicle in a nearby parking stall.  The victim made his way toward his friend and could hear him arguing with an individual parked next to his friend.  The victim asked the person if everything was alright, and the suspect reversed his vehicle causing injury to the victims hand.  The police were called and the suspect was arrested.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff detectives.

A grand theft auto occurred near the 18700 block of Flying Tiger Drive.  The victim had his vehicle stolen while parked in a parking stall at a nearby business.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff detectives.

Castaic/ Val Verde

The following crime were reported in Zone 2, Castaic/Val Verde.

A residential burglary was reported from the 31000 block of The Old Road.  The suspect was seen and identified by witnesses taking items from the location.  The suspect is a known acquaintance of the victim.  Among the items stolen was a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun and two Dell lap tops.  Santa Clarita detectives are handling the case.

A theft was reported from the 31000 block of Cherry Drive.  The victim reported the catalytic converter stolen off of his 2003 Toyota Sequoia.

A theft was reported from the 28000 block Livingston Drive.  The suspect was caught with $1000 worth of copper wire that he stole from his place of employment.

A theft was reported from the 28000 block of Gibraltar Lane. The victim reported a spa filter and heating system cut and stolen from the back yard.  The house has been vacant for several months and is in foreclosure.

Saugus

During the last week Zone 4 had one part 1 crime reported.  A vehicle burglary occurred near the 29000 block of High Sierra Trail in Saugus.  In this incident the suspect shattered the front passenger’s side window to gain entry.  The suspect stole a black and grey Coach purse, DKNY perfume, lotion and US currency.  This incident occurred sometime Saturday during the early morning hours.

These types of incidents are crimes of opportunity and can be prevented.  If a thief can’t see anything valuable in your car they will most likely not break into your vehicle. The most commonly stolen items include purses, GPS’s, cell phones and currency.  Please remove these items from your vehicle when you park them to avoid being a victim of these crimes.

Stevenson Ranch

Last week in Zone 3, the following Part-1 Crimes occurred:

A Domestic Battery/ Violation of Restraining Order/ Battery occurred in the 26900 block of Timberlane Drive. The resident’s ex-husband entered the victim’s residence, in violation of a court order, and punched the resident multiple times. The suspect then punched the resident’s friend, who was standing nearby, one time in the face before fleeing from the residence.  The incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Detectives.

An attempted grand theft vehicle occurred in the 25200 block of The Old Road. Unknown suspect(s) attempted to steal the informant’s work truck while parked and unattended. The door lock and ignition was damaged during incident.

Residential burglaries occurred in the 25300 block of Silver Aspen Way. During the first incident unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s garage via unknown means and took the victim’s Dewault 4.5 gal air compressor and other miscellaneous tools.

During a second incident, unknown person(s) entered the victim’s open garage and stole a bicycle, a 1993 Suzuki GS500 silver motorcycle and miscellaneous tools and electronics.

During the third incident, unknown person(s) entered the victim’s unlocked garage and stole a black roll-on/carry-on luggage bag and a Craftsman tool set.

During their fourth incident, unknown person(s) entered the victim’s locked garage via unknown means and stole her garage remote and handicap placard.

Shoplifting incidents occurred in the 25400 block of The Old Road. During the first incident, two suspects were apprehended, and a third named suspect fled the scene. The stolen merchandise was recovered. The incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Detectives.

During an additional incident, the suspect was taken into custody by deputy personnel. An airsoft pistol was recovered. A baggie containing methamphetamine was recovered during a search of the suspect’s property.

During the final incident, deputies detained a Valencia resident theft suspect described by Loss Prevention personnel in front of the business. Incident to arrest, deputies recovered heroin.

A shoplifting incident occurred in the 25800 block of The Old Road. Two suspects entered the business, took an iPhone 6 and fled in a black compact vehicle.

A shoplifting incident occurred in the 24900 block of Pico Canyon Road. During this incident, four suspects entered the store. Each suspect took a cellular phone and fled without paying for the items.

A shoplifting incident occurred in the 24900 block of Pico Canyon Road. During this incident, one suspect asked to see a game console and then fled the business, taking the game console with him.

A shoplifting incident occurred in the 25400 block of The Old Road. Two of three suspects were apprehended by responding deputies, and stolen property was recovered.

A petty theft incident occurred in the 25400 block of The Old Road. The victim reported leaving her iPhone 5C in her shopping cart after loading groceries into her vehicle. When she returned five minutes later, it was gone.
